Svilen Georgiev is 17-year-old from the town of Silistra. He is the first artist selected to be part of #GenerationArt.
Svilen has been doing make-up and body art for two years now and he wishes to turn his hobby into his profession. He is also coping with the difficult task of being chairman of both the student council and the English speeches and debates club at his school.
In the future, Svilen wants to study Makeup for Media and Performance in the UK and to show people in Bulgaria that makeup is an art, and there is nothing wrong for boys to wear it and do art with it.I get inspiration from everywhere! Movies, TV shows, other makeup artists, and last but not least - the environment. Everything could be turned into art!
Svilen initially began working with body paint only, transforming himself into different famous characters. He didn't use lipstick or extra decorations. At one point, he realized that he was putting unnecessary borders on himself and that he shouldn't care what people think about him or his work. From this point on, he began experimenting by mixing "normal" makeup with body art, facepaint and sfx.
The simplicity in the Halloween costumes was another reason, which has prompted him to create different and unexpected visions in the makeup world.
Svilen says he would really like to meet the make-up artists that are transforming the performers in a popular TV show for stars impersonating in Bulgaria – to witness the preparation before an episode, to get inspiration and advice.
