03.12.2018On the Occasion of World Aids Day, Ivan Dimov Talks About #endHIVbg
On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Ivan Dimov talks about the comprehensive initiative #endHIVbg.
The HIV virus first appeared in California, the United States in 1983, with the number of patients rising rapidly in the gay community. Up to now, HIV is a chronic disease that is well controlled by medicines. However, the life of HIV-positive people in Bulgaria is not easy, and often it is related to maintaining their health status, getting treatment and testing for HIV regularly. For all these issues talks Momtchil Baev - Healthcare Specialist and HIV Program Manager at Single Step.
The Single Step Foundation has successfully completed the #endHIVbg pilot initiative by offering entirely for free 900 oral HIV tests for home use and approved by the American Food and Drug Administration, without the need of visiting a testing center or meeting anyone.
Statistics show that nearly 60% of these 900 said they had never been tested for HIV or that test was more than one year ago. The main goal of the campaign is to reach those people who have never been tested.
Are we able to change and break AIDS stigma, do we know the virus and the illness, why is early detection of HIV important, and more about the pilot initiative #endHIVbg will talk Ivan Dimov, founder of the Single Step Foundation, in an interview with Bulgarian National Television at ''100% Awake Show''.
