On 26 October, The Steps hosted the closing of the three-year project of the Single Step Foundation "Empowering young LGBTI people through access to services, motivation and focused policy change", funded by Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein under the EEA Financial Mechanism. The main objective of the project is to support and empower young LGBTI people and professionals working with them.

The closing event was an opportunity to share useful experiences related to the different activities we have developed over the last 3 years as part of the project, to talk about the challenges we have overcome and to celebrate all the victories related to the empowerment of young LGBTI people and the professionals who work with them.

In summary, we share just a small part of the work we have done over the last 3 years.

  • publishing the first national report on the attitudes towards the LGBTQI students in the Bulgarian middle schools in partnership with Bilitis Foundation
  • 8 national trainings on the specifics of working with LGBTI youth and their families with more than 120 trained social workers and support specialists
  • 2 editions of our artistic workshop CampOut for young talents in different fields of art
  • 36 featured artists in our website section GenerationArt
  • 9 cultural events held, including 6 solo exhibitions

We would like to thank Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria for their support in the implementation of this project, as well as all other partners who supported us in the implementation of the project activities. All news about the project are available here.
