Our first CampOUT Workshop Finishes With an Exhibition in Sofia

Over 40 works, created during CampOUT – the first summer workshop for LGBTI artists, will be presented between October 17th and 25th in Sofia.

The exhibition collects photographs, video visualizations with impressive choreography and art collages, created entirely during the week-long art workshop for young LGBTI artists from around the country.

The CampOUT workshop provided an opportunity for young LGBTI artists, who have already begun their development in one of five genres (music, dance, visual arts, fashion and photography), to gain knowledge and inspiration from successful Bulgarian and international mentors, to feel free and express themselves and to create a joint project within the workshop.

Lots of celebrities who have already made a name in the art world, took part in our first CampOUT. Part of them were singers Lucy Dyakovska and Preya, fashion photographer Kostadin Krustev, fashion designer Antonia Yordanova from Knapp, Ivan Ginchev – fashion designer awarded with Golden needle, dancer and choreographer Kosta Karakashyian – a graduate of Columbia University, visual artists Jonathan Rosen and Tom Smith, etc.

All 11 young artists were chosen after a process of application. They worked on topics covering who we were as people, as individuals, as personas; the crossroads of personal self-awareness and acceptance.

The exhibition will be started on October 17th and will be at the One Gallery until October 25th.

CampOUT is accomplished with the help of the National Culture Fund, Open Society Foundation, San Diego Pride and the American embassy in Sofia.
